Things You'll Need
Instructions
Plug the modem to a wall outlet. Connect the provided Internet connection cord to the telephone jack (Qwest uses a telephone line to connect users to its service). Qwest modems can be wired or wireless, depending on your preferences. PlayStation 3 can work with either type.
Connect the modem to the router with an Ethernet cord, then connect the router to the PlayStation 3 using the other cord, if you are using a wired modem. Turn on the wireless modem, if you are using a wireless modem.
Turn on the PlayStation 3 and connect one controller. Select "Settings" on the main menu, then "Network Settings," and "Internet Connections" in that order. Press "X" on the controller. Select "Yes" on the window that appears, then press "X." Select "Easy" on the next menu, then press the > button. The connection will adjust automatically. These are the instructions for a wired system.
Perform the steps for a wireless system, if you are going wireless. Do all of the instructions from the previous step, except select "Wireless" after pressing the > button, then press > again. Select "Scan" and choose the wireless LAN access point you desire or choose "Automatic." Enter the encryption key that comes with the wireless system to set up security settings (this is not necessary if you choose "Automatic").
Test the Internet connection by opening the web browser icon on the PlayStation 3. The default PlayStation web browser should appear. If "Connection Failed" or another error message appears, then you will have to troubleshoot the issue (see Tips).
