How to Connect the PS3 to Wireless Internet

The PlayStation 3, or PS3, is the third installment of the popular PlayStation video game console. The PS3 connects to the Internet allowing users to play video games against other users online. The PS3 may connect to the Internet both with an ethernet cable or wirelessly. To connect successfully, you must have a wireless router already in place. If you have previously connected the PS3 to the Internet with an ethernet cable, make sure the cable is removed from the console before you begin your wireless setup.

      Power on your PS3 and your TV set.

      Choose the "Settings" option from the home screen.

      Select "Network Settings." Click "Yes" when prompted by a message indicating that the PS3 will disconnect from the Internet, if it is connected.

      Click "Easy" as your configuration type.

      Click "Wireless Connection" in the connection type window.

      Choose "Scan" and the PS3 will scan for wireless networks within range and list those access points.

      Select the wireless networks, or access points, from the list of results.

      Choose the security settings that you want for the access point when prompted. If no security key is required for the access point that you have chosen, select "None." If it requires a key, select "WEP" and enter the key when prompted.

      Save your new wireless network settings when prompted.

      Test your connection by selecting this option when prompted. Your PS3 should successfully connect to the wireless router.
