How to Make Your PS2 Slim Play Computer Games

If you have burned any of your computer games to a disk and are looking for a way to play them on your PlayStation 2 Slim, you can actually do it by modifying the game console. This process unlocks your Slim so it can play various types of disks that the manufacturer did not intend for it to play. This process does not require any extra chips or electronic components to be added to your Slim. In fact, very little technical knowledge is needed at all. And it can all be completed in less than a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your PS2 Slim off and unplug the cables from the back of the device. Then remove the controllers from their ports on the front of the device and turn the whole unit upside down.

    • 2

Use the tip of your Phillips screwdriver to pop the six rubber screw covers off of the bottom of the device. Then remove the screws.

    • 3

Turn the PS2 Slim right-side up and lift the top case of the unit off with your fingers. The internal components will now be exposed in the bottom half of the unit. In the top right corner of the unit, just above the green motherboard, is a small circular cap.

    • 4

Cut two or three small strips of duct tape from the roll and stick them over the cap. Then reassemble your PS2 Slim in the reverse order you took it apart.

    • 5

Open the top disk tray on your Slim and locate the small square hole in the bottom left corner of the tray. Roll a fingertip-sized portion of tissue paper into a ball and place it in the square hole. Your PS2 Slim is now modified and will play computer games on disk.
