Charge the Controller
Press and hold down the "Ps" button located in the middle of the controller. This will display the battery level of the controller.
Insert the USB cable into the USB port located at the top of the controller and insert the other end of the cable into USB port on the front of the Playstation 3 gaming console.
Press the "Power" button on the gaming console to turn on the Playstation 3. The gaming console must be on for the controller to charge.
Replace the Battery
Unplug any cables attached to the controller and remove the screws located on the back of the controller using the crosshead screwdriver.
Remove the controller's back casing by pushing the tab located in the middle of the casing on the back of the controller. Carefully pull the casing apart to remove the back.
Remove the connector cable from the battery and take the battery out of the controller. Place the new battery in the controller and plug the connector cable into the battery.
Gently place the back casing onto the controller until the tab locks, signaling it is properly on. Insert the screws back into the back of the casing.
Insert the USB cable into the top of the controller's USB port and insert the other end of the cable into the USB port on the front of the Playstation 3.
Press the power button on the gaming console, and push the "Ps" button on the controller to assign the controller number. The light below "1," "2," "3" or "4" will be solid red once the controller has been paired to the gaming console.
Remove the USB cable from the controller and the gaming console to begin using the controller wirelessly.
