Setting Up the Computer
Turn on your computer, insert the Verizon Wireless air card into the free PCMCIA slot, and wait for your operating system to load. Because the PS3 does not natively support the air card, you will have to connect to the Internet on your computer and then set it up so that the PS3 can piggyback onto the computer's connection.
Connect to the Internet via your air-card connection, then access the Control Panel through the Start menu and open the "Network Connections" option.
Right click the icon that represents your Verizon Wireless air-card connection and select "Properties." Click the "advanced" tab in the new dialog box that pops up.
Select the "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" check box so that it is checked, then click "OK." This will enable the PS3--when connected by an Ethernet cable to the computer--to piggyback onto the computer's Internet connection through Internet Connection Sharing (ICS).
Connecting to the Internet
Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet ports on the both the PS3 and the computer, then turn on your PS3.
Wait for the PS3's main menu to load, then select the "Network Settings" option under the "Settings" menu. Press the "X" button to open the Network Settings menu.
Highlight the "Internet Connection Settings" option, then press the "X" button.
Select the "Wired Connection" option (if a small box pops up warning you that the internet connection may be terminated, just press "X" to close the box), then press "X."
Highlight the "Easy" option and press "X." The PS3 will now automatically set up the internet connection settings and will detect the connection being shared by your computer. Once the setup process has finished, the PS3 will automatically connect to the Internet.
