How to Connect a PS3 to a Wireless Computer

In addition to playing video games, you can use the Sony PlayStation 3 as a media center to link all of the media devices in your household. You can connect your PS3 wirelessly to a computer to share music, movies and pictures over a wireless network.

      Connect your PS3 to the same network that your computer is connected to. You can either connect it with an Ethernet cable or wirelessly. To configure a wireless connection, go to the "Settings" tab in the Xross Media Bar, select "Network Settings" and "Internet Connection Settings."

      Power on your computer.

      Open Windows Media Player on your computer.

      Click the "Library" tab and select "Share Media."

      Select the "Share my media to" option to enable sharing. Select your PS3 in the "Device List" to allow sharing to that device.

      Import the files you want to share into your Windows Media Player. You can add and share movies, music and photos with your PS3.

      Navigate to either the "Video," "Music" or "Photo" tab in the PS3's Xross Media Bar to access that content. Select your computer from the list of available devices and you will be able to access the files stored on your computer. Your computer will need to be on for it to be recognized by your PS3.
