How to Connect a 20GB PS3 to the Internet

All models of Sony's PlayStation 3 home video game console (even the model with the 20GB hard drive) have a built-in wireless networking adapter that allows you to connect your game console to a wireless Internet network. You can also plug into the Internet via an Ethernet connection. Once online, you can engage other players all over the world in competitive gaming via the PlayStation Network. If you want to connect your 20GB PS3 to the Internet, you'll need to adjust the settings on your console's main menu.

Instructions

  1. Wireless Connection

      Turn on your 20GB Sony PlayStation 3.

      Select "Settings."

      Select "Network Settings."

      Select "Internet Connection Settings."

      Select "Wireless."

      Select "Scan."

      Select the name of the wireless Internet network you want to connect to. Enter the password for that network if prompted. Select the "Save" option. Your 20GB Sony PlayStation 3 will now be connected to the Internet.

    Wired Connection

      Connect your 20GB Sony PlayStation 3 to your home network Internet router using an Ethernet cable.

      Turn on your PS3.

      Select "Settings."

      Select "Internet Connection Settings." Select "Easy." Select the "Save" option. Your 20GB Sony PlayStation 3 will now be connected to the Internet via your wired Internet connection.
