Things You'll Need
Instructions
Wrap a rubber band vertically around the right side of your PlayStation 3 controller. It should touch the "X" and "Triangle" buttons, as well as the "R1" and "R2" buttons on the back. Place a paper clip over the "R1" button under the rubber band, so the rubber band holds it in place. The paper clip will be parallel to the top of the controller.
Turn on your PlayStation 3 and insert any first-person shooting game into the disc drive. Good games to test this method include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War and Borderlands.
Enter the "Settings" or "Options" menu and change the controller scheme so that "R1" is the fire button.
Start an online or single player match and equip a single-fire weapon. You won't really be able to see any difference with semi- or fully-automatic weapons. In fact, the rubber band method may make firing those types of weapons slower.
Use the controller as usual until you're ready to fire your weapon. Place your right hand palm-down over the right side of the controller so that your fingers drape over the "R1" and "R2" buttons.
Place the tip of your pointer finger on the left side of the paper clip and your middle finger on the right side. Rapidly pivot the paper clip back and forth across the "R1" button in a see-saw motion. Aim while you fire by using your right palm to adjust the right analog stick. Use your right thumb to reload your weapon.
Practice moving from regular position to shooting position as fast as possible. In time, moving smoothly from one to the other will become second nature.
