Using Virtual Memory Cards
Power on the PlayStation 3 and go to the "Game" icon on the home menu.
Select "Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)" and press the "X" button.
Highlight the memory card you want to use and press "Triangle" on the controller.
Select "Assign Slots" and press the "X" button.
Choose between "Slot 1" or "Slot 2" to assign the memory card to that slot. Think of these slots as the memory card slots on your PlayStation or PlayStation 2. You can only assign one memory card to each slot.
Play PlayStation or PlayStation 2 games as you normally would, saving exactly how you would on the original consoles. Remember that the save method varies from game to game. In some instances you need to find a save point. Other games save automatically or require you to save through an in-game menu.
