Instructions

    • 1

Locate the warranty sticker on the left side of the console. Under this sticker is a rubber foot that is hiding a Torx security screw. Removing this sticker will void your warranty.

    • 2

Unscrew the Torx security screw with the Torx screwdriver.

    • 3

Slide the plastic cover off of your PS3. This will reveal another plastic lid secured with several screws.

    • 4

Remove the seven Phillips screws that have arrows pointing at them on this interior lid.

    • 5

Gently lift off the lid to reveal the inside of your PS3.

    • 6

Lift up the Blu-ray driver to unplug the wide ribbon cable underneath it and the power cable behind it. You can now lift it out of your PS3.

    • 7

Unplug the four ribbon cables that connect the chip to the Blu-ray drive on the bottom of the drive.

    • 8

Unscrew the five Phillips screws that connect the chip to the drive and the two Phillips screws on the opposite end of the bottom of the drive.

    • 9

      Remove the Blu-ray drive lid.

    • 10

Remove the five screws that secure the plastic cover over the laser assembly. You can then remove the plastic cover.

    • 11

Unplug the two ribbon cables that are connected to the laser assembly and unscrew the four Phillips screws that secure each corner of the laser assembly. You can now lift the laser assembly out of the Blu-ray drive.
