Things You'll Need
Instructions
Insert one end of your ethernet cable into the router. Plug the other end into your PS3. Turn on the PS3 and go to the Setting menu. Select Network Settings.
Select "Internet Connection Settings". You may get a message informing you that the PS3 may be disconnected. Choose "yes"; all this means is that the PS3 may turn off its networking options in order to properly configure them. Then, on the "Setting Method" screen, choose "Easy".
Choose your option on the next screen; it will ask you whether you want wired or wireless. Select which option you'd prefer. If you choose "wired", the PS3 will automatically configure itself to your router's settings. Choose "Test Settings" to confirm everything is working correctly. You will have to provide your router's password, but the process will complete itself.
If you choose "wireless", choose the "Scan" option, and it will offer a list of networks it has detected nearby. Select your network and enter your password. The PS3 will configure its wireless card automatically to interact with your router.
Choose "Test Settings" to confirm your PS3 is connected. Once the text is complete, unplug the Ethernet cable from your PS3; with your wireless connection, it will be unnecessary. Leave the wire connected if you have chosen the "Wired" option.
If "wireless", there will be an extra step.
