How to Extend PS3 Wireless Range

The PlayStation 3 uses a built-in antenna to send and receive wireless signals from the owner̵7;s home network. The wireless range of the PS3 can be extended by creating a parabolic reflector that will aid the built-in antenna in capturing more of the Wi-Fi signal. You can build a simple parabolic reflector out of some aluminum foil that will function as well as a parabolic reflector bought commercially. It will take only a few minutes to make the parabolic reflector and set it up and extend the wireless range of the PS3.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the scissors to cut off a 1-foot-long rectangular sheet from the aluminum foil dispenser.

    • 2

Fold the aluminum foil over lengthwise. Fold each of the four sides inwards about 2 inches.

    • 3

Curve the aluminum foil sheet inwards to form a half circle.

    • 4

Place the aluminum foil sheet behind the PS3 near the left side.

    • 5

Turn on the PS3. Navigate from the Home menu to the Network icon. Select the "PlayStation Store." Wait for the PlayStation Store to come up on the screen.

    • 6

Select a free download from the PlayStation Store. Follow the prompts to start the download.

    • 7

Watch the download bar progress on the screen as you move the aluminum foil back and forth behind the PS3. Stop moving the aluminum foil when the speed of the download progress bar increases.
