The Best Way to Hookup a PS3 to a Plasma HDTV

Hooking your Playstation 3 (PS3) up to a plasma TV can make a world of difference in picture quality if your previous experience included a standard definition TV. The ability to see more detail and more colors in the system's video games prompts many people to buy a plasma television for that reason alone. High definition sets have become the standard in the market, and while good for use with a PS3, can also provide benefits with other forms of media.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach one end of the HDMI cable (both sides are identical) to your PS3. Attach the other end to an open HDMI input on the back of your television.

    • 2

Find the correct video source on the television using your TV remote. You may have multiple HDMI inputs on the back of your TV, and thus multiple video sources.

    • 3

Turn on your PS3. Using your controller or PS3 remote, move over to the settings menu.

    • 4

Under "Settings", move down to the "Display Settings" option.

    • 5

Choose the "Video Output" option from the display settings menu.

    • 6

Select "HDMI" as your video source. Another screen will come up, choose "Automatic" (your screen may go blank for a few seconds while the PS3 is determining your TV settings).

    • 7

Select "Finish" to save your settings and return to the main menu.
