How Do I Set Up My PlayStation 3 Wireless to My PC?

The PlayStation 3 is considered more of a multimedia device than a game console. It can play movies in both DVD and Blue Ray format, play music from both MP3s and CDs and store pictures. Unlike the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii, the PlayStation 3 comes standard with wireless capabilities that enable it to connect it to your personal computer through your wireless router.

      Power on your PlayStation 3. Remove the Ethernet cable if there is one currently connecting your PlayStation 3 to your Internet router. Go to Settings>Network Settings>Internet Connection Settings. Click "Yes" to confirm that it's okay that any Internet connection you may have will now be disconnected.

      Click "Easy." Click "Wireless." Click "Scan." Select the network connection that represents your wireless router. Select the correct security settings based on the ones your wireless router is using and enter the corresponding security key. Save your settings. Click "Test Connection." Confirm that the network test was successful.

      Turn on your personal computer. Click the bars in lower right corner of the taskbar to open the Wireless connection menu. Choose the same wireless connection for your personal computer that you chose in Step 2 for your PlayStation 3. Enter the security settings and corresponding security key.

      Go to Start>All Programs>Windows Media Player. Open the Library tab and click "Media Sharing." Place a check mark in the box next to Share my media. Find your PlayStation 3 from the list of devices beneath the Share my media option. Click "Allow."

      Go to Settings>Network Settings>Media Server Connection on your PlayStation 3. Select "Enabled."
