How to Install Windows Media Player on PS3

In addition to playing video games, the PlayStation 3 console can act as a media server for your household. One of the easiest ways to get music and video files onto your PS3 is by using Windows Media Player. After you set up file sharing through Windows Media Player on your PC, you can install and configure the service on your PS3 so that you can play streamed content from your video game console.

      Launch the Windows Media Player 11 application on your PC computer.

      Open the "Library" menu at the top of the window and choose the "Media Sharing" option.

      Check the box next to "Share Media."

      Hit the "OK" button to save the settings and begin sharing content from Windows Media Player.

      Go to the main menu of your PlayStation 3.

      Navigate to the "Video," "Music" or "Photo" submenu. The PS3 will automatically scan for shared content and install the Windows Media Player service.

      Highlight the media file you want to play or open and press the "X" button on your PS3 controller.
