      Turn off the PS3.

      Connect the HDMI cable into the PS3's HDMI port on the back of the console.

      Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the TV's HDMI input.

      Turn on the PS3 and access the cross-menu bar, or XMB.

      Select "Settings," "Display Settings" then "Video Output Settings."

      Select the HDMI cable option and press the "X" button.

      Turn on your television.

      Select "Automatic" on your PS3. Your PS3 will select the proper resolution setting corresponding to your television.
