How to Force a Link to a PlayStation Wireless Controller

The PlayStation 3 is the first PlayStation console to use wireless controllers out of the box. The "SIXAXIS" was bundled with the initial run of PS3s, while the DualShock 3 eventually became the standard controller for the PS3. Feature differences aside, the process to sync the controllers to the PlayStation is the same. Both controllers are wireless; however, you can charge and use the controller at the same time while it is connected via USB.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn on PlayStation.

    • 2

Insert the USB side of the USB cable into a USB port on the PlayStation. Connect the mini-USB side into the top of the controller.

    • 3

Press the "PlayStation" button on the front of the controller. The lights on the back of the controller will begin to flash. Once the sync is complete, you can disconnect the controller from the USB cable and begin to use it wirelessly.
