How to Network My PS3 to a Remote Drive

PS3 Media Server

  Download and install PS3 Media Server, which can be found in the resource section of this guide. It is a free program that allows your PS3 to connect to your computer via your home network. Being able to remotely access the computer hard drive will allow your PS3 to play files located on your computer.

  Turn on your PS3 and make sure it is connected to your home network. Both wired and wireless connections work fine with this server.

  Open the PS3 Media Server on your computer and it will recognize that a PS3 is connected to your home network.

  Go to your PS3 and click on the ̶0;PS3 Media Server̶1; icon, which is now on your PS3̵7;s menu. You will now be able to browse your computer̵7;s files, play videos and music and view photos.

TVersity

  Download and install TVersity onto your computer. Like PS3 Media Server, TVersity will allow you to browse and play files from your computer on your PS3 without a wired connection between the two devices.

  Open TVersity and click on the ̶0;Library̶1; tab at the top of the program. Click the ̶0;Add̶1; button to add folders or files to the server. Click the ̶0;Refresh̶1; button and your settings will be saved. Click on the ̶0;Settings̶1; tab and click the ̶0;Sony PlayStation 3̶1; device from the ̶0;Media Playback Device̶1; drop-down list. Click ̶0;Save.̶1;

  Turn on your PS3 and select the ̶0;TVersity̶1; icon from the PS3 menu. Browse the files from the server and select one to play.
