How to Configure a Static IP Address in PS3

The PS3 is a gaming console developed by Sony with numerous features such as Blu-Ray disc playback, high definition gaming and the ability to surf the Internet. Gamers can connect to the PlayStation Network and compete online or simply browse their favorite Web pages. There are a few ways to configure your online connection settings, such as allowing your router to automatically assign an IP address or create a static IP address. An IP address is your device̵7;s unique network ID. Creating a static IP address is a simple process requiring only a few steps.

Instructions

      Turn on your PS3 and select ̶0;Settings̶1; from the Cross Media Bar. You can access the Cross Media Bar at any time by pressing the PlayStation button on your controller.

      Select ̶0;Network Settings,̶1; then ̶0;Internet Connection Settings.̶1;

      Confirm that you will be disconnected from the Internet when a prompt appears.

      Select ̶0;Custom̶1; for the address settings. This is where you can create a static IP address.

      Choose your connection type from the menu, either ̶0;Wired̶1; or ̶0;Wireless."

      Choose which network you want to change your settings on. If you̵7;re on a wireless connection, select ̶0;Scan̶1; then choose your desired connection. If you̵7;re on a wired connection select ̶0;Auto-detect.̶1;

      Select ̶0;Manual̶1; for IP address settings.

      Enter your desired static IP address. Only change the last section of digits on the IP address.

      Save the settings and test the connection.
