How to fix your PS3 when the hard drive disk is corrupt

When a Sony PlayStation 3 hard drive states that it's corrupt, it needs repaired so you can use it again. You do not have to remove the hard drive from the PS3 to fix it as the system has a built-in formatting utility. This utility will format portable storage devices such as flash drives, but it will also format the hard drive.

     Turn the PS3 on.

     Move to the "Settings" menu on the main screen and press "X" on the controller.

     Press "X" on "System Settings."

     Select "Format Utility."

     Choose "Format Hard Disk." Select "Yes" to confirm that you want to format the hard disk.
