Turn on your Sony Playstation3 by pressing the touch-sensitive ̶0;I/O̶1; button on the top of the media console. Press the ̶0;PS̶1; button on your Sony Playstation3 controller to turn it on. Your controller will automatically sync with the Playstation3.
Locate one of the open USB ports on the front of the Sony Playstation3 and plug your external media into it. External media consists of hard drives, iPods, MP3 players, MP4 players and flash drives. Once you have plugged this into the Playstation3, it will locate the media on the device. Depending on what you would like to record over to the Playstation3 hard drive, navigate to the proper section of the Playstation3 menu. For instance, if you would like to transfer movies over, go to the ̶0;Video̶1; section of the menu.
Scroll down the Playstation3 menu until you see your device̵7;s icon. Select it by pressing the ̶0;X̶1; button on the Playstation3 controller. Locate the media you would like to record to the Playstation3 and press the ̶0;?̶1; button on the controller to bring up the extra menu for each individual item on your device. Here you can see more information about the file, move it somewhere else, and copy it to your Playstation3.
Select ̶0;Copy̶1; and your media will be sent over and recorded onto the Playstation3 hard drive. Once the copy is complete, it will say ̶0;100%̶1; and you can now go play the media directly from your Playstation3.
