How to Add IR Capabilities to the Sony PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 uses a Bluetooth remote to control its functions remotely. This differs from the majority of other electronic devices, which have an infrared (IR) port built in to use with an IR remote, the standard type of remote available. The Sony PS3 can be made compatible with an IR remote if IR capabilities are added to the game console. This can be done by using hardware devices designed for the PlayStation 2 that can be bought at specialty electronics stores. Adding IR capabilities to a PS3 does not void its warranty.
