How to Find the MAC Address on the PS3

The development of the PlayStation 3 video game console was Sony's response to gamers being able to play games online on the Xbox but not on the PlayStation 2. Of course, with this added ability to play games online, there are even more technical considerations to take into account when troubleshooting a PS3. So if you've found yourself in the position where you need to locate the MAC (Media Access Control) number on your console in order to fix a network problem, don't worry, it's relatively simple to find the number and it should only take a minute or two of your time.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PS3 and access the main menu. Make sure there isn't a game disc in the drive or else the PS3 will direct you straight to the main menu of the video game.

    • 2

Select "Game Settings" from the main menu screen after it has finished loading.

    • 3

Scroll down through the list of options, all the way to the bottom, and select the "Network Settings" option. It should be the very last option in the list.

    • 4

Select "Settings and Connection Status List." It should be the very first option in the window. Wait for the "Settings and Connection Status List" window to pop up.

    • 5

Scroll down through the list of settings and connection information until you get to the bottom of the page. Here you will find a 12-digit alphanumeric number listed under "MAC Address." This is the MAC address of your PS3.
