Play MP3s from an External Hard Drive
Connect your external hard drive to your computer via the USB cable.
Copy your MP3s onto your external hard drive. Click the ̶0;Start̶1; button on your PC and select ̶0;My Music.̶1; Copy and paste the songs that you like onto your external hard drive.
Safely remove the external hard drive from your PC. Open the icon that reads "Safely Remove Hardware," found in the task tray in the bottom right corner of the Windows task bar, and disconnect the external hard drive. It it is now safe to unplug.
Plug the external hard drive into your PS3 via the USB cable.
Go to the ̶0;Music̶1; tab in the Cross Media Bar on your PS3.
Highlight the external hard drive, press the ̶0;Triangle̶1; button on the controller and select ̶0;Display All.̶1; All of your music will now show up on the PS3. You can play the music from here while the external hard drive is connected or you can copy the music to your PS3s hard drive by highlighting the song, pressing the ̶0;Triangle̶1; button and selecting ̶0;Copy.̶1;
Play MP3s from a Shared Computer
Open Windows Media Player on your computer. Click the ̶0;Start̶1; button, highlight ̶0;All Programs̶1; and select ̶0;Windows Media Player.̶1;
Select ̶0;Tools̶1; from the tool bar and open the ̶0;Options̶1; menu. Select the ̶0;Library̶1; tab and click on ̶0;Configure Sharing̶1; to open the sharing menu box.
Check the ̶0;Share My Media To:̶1; checkbox to enable sharing. Your PS3 will be listed in the device list as either ̶0;PS3̶1; or ̶0;Unknown Device.̶1; Right click it and select ̶0;Allow̶1; to enable sharing.
Add your MP3s to your Windows Media Player library. Click ̶0;File̶1; in the tool bar, select ̶0;Add to Library̶1; and add the files that you want.
Turn on your PS3.
Go to the ̶0;Music̶1; tab on the Cross Media Bar.
Select your shared PC and you will find all of the files from your Windows Media Player.
