Check the Connection
The most common problem is the USB connection to the PS3. Ensure that the USB cable is securely inserted all the way into the PS3. If it is and it still doesn̵7;t work, try a different USB port as sometimes USB ports can fail. Depending on the model PS3 you have, you should find more USB ports in the front or on the back of the system. If you are able to plug in a controller and it charges without a problem, then the USB ports are fine.
Check the System
When you have tried multiple USB ports and ensured that the connection is secure, check the system itself. If you have a friend or family member that has a PS3, try your Eye on his system. If it works, then you know that the problem is with your system and not the PlayStation Eye itself. Try updating your PS3̵7;s software or performing a system restore. If you cannot find another PS3 system to test it on, try connecting it to your computer. If your computer recognizes it as a USB device, then you know the USB cable is functional.
Check the Eye
If your Eye will not work on your PS3 or any other PS3, then the problem is definitely with the Eye device. If you are not able to speak into the Eye, then the microphone might be damaged. If no video is showing up, then the camera might be damaged. If the PS3 doesn̵7;t recognize it at all, perhaps the USB cable is faulty or the unit itself is faulty. If you recently purchased your PlayStation Eye, then return it and exchange for another. If you have had it for a while, then contact Sony Customer Support and send it in for repairs.
