Turn on the computer. Download and install the Windows Media Player 11 program. Run Windows Media Player 11.
Select "Media Sharing" from the "Library" menu. Check the "Share media" box. The PS3 will automatically be noted in the list of devices below ̶0;Share media̶1; that the computer can share digital files with. Select the PS3 from the list and click on "Allow" to bring up a new window. Click on "OK" to confirm choosing the PS3 and to close the window. Leave the Windows Media Player 11 program running on the computer.
Turn on the PS3 but do not turn on the TV connected to the PS3. The PS3 will now connect to the computer automatically by searching for the DLNA media server that is being created by the Windows Media Player 11 program.
Audio can now be streamed to the PS3 from the Windows Media Player 11 program and listened to through any speakers connected to the PS3. A PSP portable can also access the PS3 without the TV having to be on through the "Remote Play" feature. The PSP can play music, look at a photo or watch a video that is coming from the computer by going to the "Photo", "Music" or "Video" icon on the PS3 Home screen that is being displayed on the PSP.
