How to Pair a Remote Control to a PS3

Every new PlayStation 3 (PS3) comes with a wireless remote control. Because the remote control is wireless, you have to "pair it" with your PS3 the first time you use it so the devices can communicate with each another. You must complete the process both the first time you use a new wireless controller and each time you wish to use that controller with a different console.

Instructions

  Turn off your PS3. For additional precaution, disconnect the power cable from the back of the PS3 to prevent damage caused by electric shock.

  Connect the USB cable provided with your PS3 to the wireless control.

  Connect the other end of the USB cable to any available remote control port. The remote control ports are found on the front, left-hand side of your console.

  Reconnect the power to your PS3 and turn on the console. Your wireless remote control will be paired automatically.
