Hook your PlayStation 3 console up to the Internet. The game downloading service of PlayStation Network is an online program and you must have your console hooked up to the Internet in order to use it. For help connecting your console to the Internet consult your user manual.
Register or log-in to the PlayStation Store. Located on the main menu of the PlayStation 3 operating system under "PlayStation Network," the PlayStation Store requires users to sign up and then log-in before they can use the service. You can sign up for the service using the "Sign Up for PlayStation Network" option.
Browse the PlayStation Store to find games you wish to download. The service offers many different types of games from demos to full games with the prices varying from game to game. New titles are added to the service regularly.
Select the game you wish to download and follow the instructions for completing the purchase. The PlayStation Store will take you through the steps to enter a payment method and begin your download.
Find your newly downloaded game on your system and install it. Games you've recently downloaded will be visible under the "Games" section on the PlayStation 3's main menu. Click on the game to finish installing it to your hard drive. After installation is complete your new game will be ready to play.
