Wiring the Components
Put the newspaper down on a table. Put the PIC chip with the pins facing up and the notch at the left side down on the newspaper. Count from the bottom at the lower right two pins over to get to Pin 2. Bend Pin 2 away from you using the tweezers. Bend the uppermost pin (pin 14) at the right of the top row towards you. Solder this and pin two together using the soldering iron.
Cut the legs of the resistor shorter using the wire cutters. Solder one end of the resistor to pin 3 which is next to pin 2 at the bottom row. Solder the other end of the resistor to the rightmost pin on the bottom row. Clip off all of the other pins from the PIC chip using the wire cutters but leave the pin next to pin 14 intact (pin 13).
Put the logic switch down on the newspaper with the legs facing up and the notch at the left side. Cut off all of the pins from the logic switch except for the rightmost pin and the one beside it at the top row.
Put the PIC chip down on its back with the notch at the right. Place it above and in front of the logic switch.
Cut eight 4 inch strips of 30 ga. Electrical wire using the wire cutters. Strip off the insulation from both ends of the electrical wire using the wire strippers.
Solder a wire to the bottom rightmost pin of the logic switch. Solder the other end of the wire to pin 13 of the PIC chip. Solder a wire to the pin next to the bottom rightmost pin of the logic switch. Solder the other end of the wire to pin 13 of the PIC chip.
Solder a wire to the bottom rightmost pin of the logic switch. Solder the other end to pins 14 and 3 of the PIC chip where they are soldered together.
Solder a wire to pin 8 of the logic switch and solder the other end to pin 1 of the PIC chip.
Solder a wire to pin 13 of the logic switch. Solder the other end to pin 14 of the logic switch.
Solder a wire to pin 3 of the PIC chip.
Modifying the PS3 Controller
Remove the 5 screws from the back of the controller with a flat edged jeweler̵7;s screwdriver. Use the lat edged jeweler̵7;s screwdriver to push up against the red part at the middle of the back of the controller to release a clip. Separate the two shells of the controller. Place the shell that has the circuit board inside of it down on the newspaper with the circuit board facing up and the numbering on it at the uppermost left.
Locate the large computer chip at the center of the circuit board. Solder the wire attached to pin 13 of the logic switch to the contact at the uppermost right corner next to the computer chip. Solder the wire attached to pin 14 of the logic switch to the contact that is below the contact at the uppermost right corner next to the computer chip.
Solder a wire to pin 7 of the logic switchSolder the other end of the wire to the contact labeled "GND" at the uppermost right hand corner of the circuit board. Solder a wire to pin 8 of the logic switch.
Solder the other end of the wire to the contact that is labeled "TP11" and is about an inch below the "GND" contact. Use the Hot glue gun to glue the logic switch and the PIC chip together. Place them on top of the circuit board at the extreme right just below "TP11."
Cut off the pins from one side of the button switch using the wire cutters.
Take the shell of the controller that didn̵7;t have the circuit board and drill a small hole in it. Put the button switch into the hole with the button facing out. Hot glue the button switch into the hole.
Solder a wire to the "GND" contact on the circuit board. Solder the other end to one of the two contacts on the button switch. Solder the loose end of the wire that is soldered to pin 3 of the PIC chip to the other contact of the button switch.
Reassemble the PS3 controller. Plug it into the PS3 and play a game where you can fire a weapon. Press the button switch to have rapid fire from your PS3 controller.
