How to Delete & Install Game Data on a PS3 Hard Drive

The PlayStation 3 is a very sophisticated piece of gaming hardware that offers gamers high-definition gaming and well as other media functions. Unlike the Xbox 360, every PS3 comes standard with a hard drive in sizes including 40 GB, 60 GB and 120 GB. One of the most common uses of this hard drive is the storing of game data, which is required for most games.

Instructions

  1. Install Game Data

    • 1

      Insert the disc that you wish to save onto the hard drive into the disc tray.

      Select the game in the Cross Media Bar under ̶0;Games̶1; to start up the game if it does not load automatically.

    • 3

      When the game asks you if you would like to save data, select ̶0;Yes̶1; and the game data will automatically be created onto your hard drive.

    Delete Game Data

    • 4

      Find the ̶0;Game Data Utility̶1; folder under ̶0;Games̶1; in the Cross Media Bar.

      Find the game data you wish to delete in the ̶0;Game Data Utility̶1; and highlight it.

    • 6

      Press the "Triangle" button to open up the options menu.

    • 7

      Select and press ̶0;Delete.̶1; Select ̶0;Yes̶1; to confirm the deletion, and the game data will be removed from the hard drive.
