How to Hook Up a Surround System to Your PS3

Surround sound speaker systems are one of the best ways to get optimal sound in a room, and immerse yourself in the environment experienced on a TV. When connected to a video gaming console such as a PlayStation 3, the resulting experience is phenomenal when playing video games or watching movies on its blue-ray DVD system. The PS3 is well configured to handle any surround sound system.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the cable that will work with your surround sound system. The PS3 is capable of handling three different types of connections: Component video with a stereo cable; component video with a fiber optic audio cable; and HDMI cables, with each connection better than the one before it.

    • 2

Connect the cable to the PS3, then connect the other end of the surround sound speaker system via the system's receiver device. The areas to connect the cable to will be labeled as such on each of the devices.

    • 3

Turn on the surround sound system, then turn on the PS3. You should hear sound coming out of the speaker system.
