Instructions

  1. Using a Wired Connection

    • 1

Make sure you have your Internet working correctly before attempting to connect the PS3. The modem should be set up already and the connection active.

    • 2

Turn off your PS3 and modem, and unplug both from the power sockets.

    • 3

If using just a modem, plug in an ethernet cable into the back of your modem. There should be a port labeled "Ethernet." If using a router, you will need to connect the Ethernet cable into one of the numbered ports on the back of the router (for instance, "1" or "2").

    • 4

Connect the other end of the ethernet cable into the back of the PS3 into a port labeled "LAN."

    • 5

Plug in the Internet modem and allow to power up for a few minutes.

    • 6

Plug in the PS3 and turn it on.

    • 7

Under the PS3 menu, go to "Settings," then "Network Settings," then "Internet Connection." Be sure this is enabled.

    • 8

Go to "Internet Connection Settings." If asked to be disconnected from the Internet, select "Yes."

    • 9

Select "Wired Connection" and then ̶0;Easy.̶1; The PS3 should test the connection and automatically connect.

    Wireless

    • 10

Make sure your wireless network is set up correctly. You will not need to plug the PS3 in to any ethernet connection, nor will you need to power off anything. Follow Steps 6 to 8 as listed above.

    • 11

In the menu "Internet Connection Settings," select "Easy," then "Wireless," then "Scan." The PS3 will search for local networks within range. Select your network and continue.

    • 12

Select the correct security setting and enter in any necessary keys. Failure to enter the correct key will prevent the PS3 from connecting properly even if it recognizes the network. The connection will be tested and should connect thereafter.
