How to Connect PS3 with a HDMI to DVI Cable

With the widespread demand for high-definition multimedia, many display technology options are available. This large market creates a multitude of connectivity options which may or may not be supported by specific hardware, such as the PlayStation 3. This need for connectivity has brought a diverse market of connective cables that allow for mismatched specifications to be connected effectively to one another. Using an HDMI to DVI cable to connect your PlayStation 3 to your DVI-ready monitor or television is an easy process that nearly any home electronics consumer can accomplish.

  Locate the HDMI port on your PlayStation 3 console and connect the HDMI end of the HDMI-to-DVI cable to it.

  Connect the DVI connector at the opposite end the cable to the DVI port on your monitor or television. Refer to the manufacturer's documentation for the specific location of the DVI port.

  Power on your PlayStation 3 and monitor, or television.

  Set the monitor to display data from the DVI channel. This is accomplished through the remote control or the monitor's main menu. Please refer to the manufacturer's documentation for specific instructions. This will allow for data to be recieved from the PlayStation's HDMI port through your monitor's DVI port and display the data.
