Uncharted PS3 Tips

"Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" is an action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by SCE for the Sony PlayStation 3 console in 2007. The game follows protagonist Nathan Drake, descendant of Sir Francis Drake, through the Amazon as he searches for a legendary gold statue. Players encounter many hidden valuables and countless enemies as they progress through the game, but a solid understanding the gameplay mechanics ensures a safe, rewarding journey.
  1. Gameplay

    • The gameplay of Uncharted offers an innovative mixture of exploration, platforming and third-person action, with a duck-and-cover shooting mechanic that lends a sense of strategy to the shooting sections. Engage only one enemy at a time as much as possible and lure them to an area where you have the advantage and are well covered. Practice enough with every weapon to be proficient, as you may not always have enough ammunition to use your weapon of choice. Take advantage of the game's regenerative health. Duck and lay low after taking damage until your health is fully recovered. Aim for head shots as often as possible, but do not spend an excessive amount of time lining it up.

    Trophies

    • Uncharted features a trophy system. Many trophies can be earned by simply progressing through the story with no purposeful effort on the player's behalf, but obtaining the more valuable gold and platinum trophies is somewhat of an endeavor. Fourteen of the game's trophies can be earned by finding treasures hidden throughout the levels, with a new trophy awarded for every five treasures found. Earn skill trophies by dispatching enemies is specific ways. For example, the "Steel Fist Expert" trophy can be earned by shooting five enemies and finishing them off with a single punch. This and all other skill trophies can be earned with little challenge on easy mode. Access the game menu and view the "Trophies" tab to see an extensive list of all trophies and how to earn them. The ultimate platinum trophy is the reward for earning all other in-game trophies.

    Treasures

    • Aside from guiding Nathan to the golden statue, you have the option of seeking out 61 treasures hidden throughout the game's environments. If you plan on playing through the game several times, explore the levels thoroughly before progressing, as many treasures are hidden in plain sight and can be found by venturing off the beaten path. Look for a vertical, golden glow, as this generally denotes the precise location of a treasure. If you have missed any treasures, reference guides, such as the ones available on guides.ign.com or gamefaqs.com. Cross reference the treasures you have found with the ones you have missed. Use the "Chapter Select" feature to travel easily to different levels and obtain treasures you may have missed. Finding treasure is primarily for player satisfaction and earning trophies that contribute to your PlayStation Network total.
