How to Connect Dual Shock 3

The Sony PlayStation 3, while originally using the Sixaxis controller, now makes use of the DualShock 3 controller, bringing vibration functionality to most titles and adding a new level of depth to the gameplay. Connecting the controller is a simple task, and the process is identical to the one used to connect the Sixaxis.

Instructions

Connecting the DualShock 3 controller to your PS3

  Make sure the system is powered off. Plug the larger end of the PS3's included USB cable into one of the USB slots on the front side of the console.

  Plug the smaller end of the USB cable into the top of the DualShock 3 controller.

  Make sure the power switch on the back of the console is turned on. The red light on the front of the console will be illuminated when the console is plugged in.

  Press the "PS" button in the middle of the DualShock 3 controller. The lights on the top of the controller will blink for several seconds as the console powers on and the controller connects.

  When the lights stop blinking, leaving only one lit on the top of the controller, you've successfully connected your DualShock 3 controller to your PlayStation 3.
