How to Beat Mephiles in Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Mephiles Phase 1

  Fill your Action Gauge by killing the Mephiles clones that surround you. When the clones try to attack at the same time, use the Homing Attack to hit them. When the gauge is full, the real Mephiles will appear.

  Hit Mephiles with your weapon and Homing Attack repeatedly before your gauge runs out. When the gauge is empty, you will have to fight the clones again to fill it.

  Avoid his fireballs by jumping or running left or right. The fireballs also will disappear when you hit him. When you hit Mephiles three times, he will become Omega.

  Dodge the clones that fly around the screen and dive towards Omega. It is easy to avoid them and pay attention to Omega because the camera stays on him the entire time.

  Run in a circle around Omega and shoot him with your weapon. Hold down the shoot button to charge powerful energy beams. Hit Omega 15 to 20 times to move on to the next phase.

Mephiles Phase 2

  Strike the enemies that stand in one place to fill your Action Gauge. Mephiles and his clones will emerge once your gauge has been filled.

• 7

  Avoid the energy attacks Mephiles throws while he hides behind his clones.

• 8

  Run around the screen to the back of Mephiles and strike him. Keep moving to evade the clones who will try to attack you. Mephiles will create a tall pyramid out of his clones and stands on top of it. Use your Homing Attack to reach the top and hit Mephiles off the tower of clones. Repeat this step until Mephiles is defeated.
