How to Use Dualshock 3

The Dualshock 3 is the most advanced controller model available for the Sony PlayStation 3 gaming console. It improves on the PS3's original controller (the SIXAXIS) by adding a vibration function similar to the previous Dualshock models. The controller can function wirelessly and doesn't require a physical connection to the console during play. It can also used to power on the console by pressing the "PS" button found between the START and SELECT buttons.

Instructions

Using the Dualshock 3 controller

  Using the USB cable that came with your PlayStation 3, plug the smaller end into the top of the Dualshock 3 controller while plugging the wider end into one of the front USB slots on the game console.

  Once connected, press the clear button in the middle of the controller. It is marked with the PlayStation logo and is located between the START and SELECT buttons. This will power on the system.

  Wait a moment while the controller connects to the system. Four lights will blink on the top of the controller while it registers itself with the console.

  Once the controller connects, the light beneath the number "1" on the top of the controller should remain illuminated. This means the controller is now connected.

  You can now use the d-pad or left analog stick to navigate the menus on the PlayStation XMB, and the buttons to select and back out of menus. The controller will also allow you to play your games.
