Rent out the chocobo stables from Choco Bill at the farm near the city of Kalm.
Take the airship to the home of the Chocobo Sage to the north of the Icicle Inn and then buy several Reagan Greens from the Sage.
Travel to the area near Gold Saucer and find the spot on the ground with chocobo tracks. Equip the chocobo lure materia on one of your party members, and then walk on the tracks until the group is attacked by two monsters with a chocobo in the back row.
Throw a Reagan Green at the chocobo to keep it occupied and then kill the two other monsters. When the battle is over, send the chocobo back to the stables at the farm. Repeat this process again in the same spot, catching a second chocobo and sending it back to the stables.
Leave Gold Saucer and go through this same process of catching two chocobos on the chocobo tracks by the city of Mideel.
Fight in random battles in the area around Bone Village until the party is attacked by a Vlakorados monster. Use the steal materia to steal two carob nuts from it.
Head off to the island to the north and east of the chocobo farm and fight in random battles until the group is attacked by a goblin. Use the steal materia to steal a zeio nut from it.
Return to the chocobo farm and speak with Choco Bill to breed your chocobos. Breed the two opposite sets that you caught and choose to use the carob nut when Bill asks if you want to use an item. When the breeding is finished, you will have a blue and a green chocobo.
Breed the blue and green chocobos together using the zeio nut to produce a black chocobo.
