How to Download a PlayStation Emulator

A PlayStation emulator allows you to play PlayStation games on your computer. While a PlayStation console and all the gear is difficult to travel with, your laptop is easy to move around. A PlayStation emulator saves you the expense of purchasing the unit while allowing you to play the same games.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your computer's operating system to be sure it can run the emulator. You can find this information under System Properties in your computer's Control Panel. Most emulators require a 1 GHz processor and 128 Mb RAM for smooth functioning.

    • 2

Find an emulator online that's compatible with your computer. There are several options available at websites like The Emulator Zone.

    • 3

Download the emulator. There are three parts you must download in a specific order. First download the emulator file, then the utility and last the PlayStation bios.

    • 4

Open the emulator zip file and extract the files in it. Install and then run the program, but don't play any games until you complete Step 6.

    • 5

Install the utility and the bios. Extract the utility from the zip file. The extracted utility files should go in the "plug ins" folder of your emulator. After downloading the bios, place your .bin file in the bios file of your emulator. Bios is the copy of the operating file of the system you're emulating.

Load a ROM for Sony PlayStation, and begin playing. Several ROMs are available online, so search for one you like. A ROM file contains all the data from the game cartridge or disc. You can find ROMs at The Emulator Zone and similar websites.
