How to Prevent Your PlayStation From Overheating

Although the PlayStation usually doesn't have an overheating problem, extended play can lead to a buildup of heat and a decrease in performance. The following measures will help prevent heat buildup and allow you to play for as long as you desire.

  Turn your PlayStation off.

  Place it in an area that is out of direct sunlight and away from any source of heat such as a space heater.

  Open your PlayStation's cover and place the game you wish to play into the tray, label side up.

  Close the cover.

  Flip your PlayStation completely over so that it is resting on its cover and the bottom is sticking up. This will allow more cool air to reach the cooling ducts and reduce heat buildup.

  Turn your PlayStation on and begin playing your game.

  Turn the power off when you are finished playing your game.

  Flip the PlayStation back over so that the correct side is facing upward when it isn't in use.
