How to Get to the Roof to Fight Liquid in MGS

The first incarnation of the "Metal Gear" series appeared on the Nintendo Entertainment System and eventually became known for an effective blend of action, adventure and stealth mechanics. "Metal Gear Solid" for the original PlayStation introduced the revolutionary elements of subterfuge and camouflage that today's gamers are familiar with. The protagonist, Solid Snake, manages to survive being tortured by Ocelot and escapes to find himself in the tank hanger on level B1. His next goal is to reach the roof of the communication towers and confront his enemy, Liquid Snake.

Instructions

  Recover the items that you lost when you were kidnapped, and make your way to the area where you battled Sniper Wolf. Watch the flashback that occurs when you reach the passageway, and take an incoming call from your radio team.

  Proceed to the door that you were about to reach before you were abducted, and open it with the card that was slipped into your prison cell by Otacon right after you were tortured. Continue through the hallway and go left. Open the door at the end; a camera will spot you, alerting security to your presence.

  Dispatch the first two guards who appear, grab the grenades and rope, empty your hands of weapons and begin your ascent up the series of stairs that lead to the roof of the communication towers.

  Continue to run up the stairs while avoiding all possible contact with security. Dodge any gunfire and press the "Fire" key to throw guards impeding your progress. Reach the door midway up and listen to the radio call. Climb to the last floor and spot the ladder leading up.

  Mount the stairs. Open the door and move to the roof of the first communication tower. Begin to cross the bridge. Watch your enemy appear in a chopper, and fire missiles to destroy the path to the second tower, setting up your battle with Liquid Snake.
