Things You'll Need
Instructions
Connect a PS3 memory card adapter into one of your PS3̵7;s USB ports. These devices are sold by Sony specifically to convert old PS1 saved games to manageable files for PS3 usage and PC storage.
Insert a USB flash drive into your PS3 if you want to take the file off your PS3. If you want to keep the new PS1 file stored exclusively on your PS3, you do not need a flash drive for backup.
Turn on your PS3 and use the joystick to scroll horizontally through the XMB menu. This is the main menu that appears when you turn on your PS3.
Highlight ̶0;Game,̶1; and press down on the joystick to view subdirectories.
Highlight ̶0;Memory Card Utility,̶1; and press ̶0;X̶1; to select it.
Scroll the game data using your joystick, highlighting the PS1 data that you want to convert into a file. The data is arranged by game, and a small icon of the game̵7;s main character or theme represents the file.
Press the triangle button, highlight ̶0;Copy̶1; with your joystick, and press ̶0;X.̶1;
Select an existing PS3 save location or the USB flash drive to copy the file. If no save locations exist, select ̶0;Create New Internal Memory̶1; to add a save folder to your PS3̵7;s hard drive.
Press the triangle button, select ̶0;Assign Slots̶1; and press ̶0;X.̶1; The PS1 files are pulled from the memory card, and a new file is placed on your PS3 hard drive or USB flash drive. Using this new file, you can now play the saved file on your PS3 and store the PS1 data on most USB devices, hard drives or PS3 systems.
