History
The Resident Evil storyline originates from the Bio Hazard series developed and directed by Japanese native, Shiniji Mikami. The game became a first of its kind, introducing the world of gaming to horror survival. Bio Hazard required gamers to protect their characters while completing various puzzles and challenges in order to move forward through the game. The first game of the series allows gamers to select Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine as characters. The Japanese introduced Bio Hazard game was edited before being released into North America and Europe as Resident Evil.

The Resident Evil game series appears across the industry̵7;s most popular gaming platforms, including PlayStation -- all series, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Sega and Microsoft Windows.
The Game Characters
Resident Evil character choices are mostly military soldiers seeking to fight the evil and undead forces of the Umbrella Corporation. The recurring characters such as Jill Valentine, Chris and Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy are Special Tactics and Rescue Service, or S.T.A.R.S., team members, also introduced in the Resident Evil movie series.
The Movie
The Resident Evil movie is an adaption of the Resident Evil game series that debuted in 2002. The movie introduces Alice as its main character and progressively introduces many of the characters that appear in the game series. Each Resident Evil movie stars Alice, played by actress Milla Jovovich, and includes, in order of release: "Resident Evil," "Resident Evil: Apocalypse," "Resident Evil: Extinction" and "Resident Evil: Afterlife," as well as "Resident Evil: Retribution," scheduled for a 2012 release.
