How to Cast All Eight of Alucard's Spells in Castlevania

"Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" is a cult classic for the original PlayStation console that was later ported to the Xbox LIVE Arcade virtual console. The action-adventure title combines two-dimensional combat, exploration and basic action puzzles within the Castlevania universe. Unlike previous installments in the series, "Symphony of the Night" introduced basic role-playing elements, such as equipment, experience levels and spells. The protagonist Alucard can cast these spells with certain button combinations, available from the outset of the game.

Instructions

  Activate the Dark Metamorphosis spell to absorb blood from certain enemies, which restores hit points to the player's character. The spell is completed by pressing the following button combination on the controller's directional pad: Left, Left-Up, Up, Up-Right, Right and Square.

  Summon the Hellfire spell to teleport Alucard across the screen and release three fireballs from his cloak. Press Up, Down, Down-Right, Right and Square to activate the spell.

  Call forth the aid of a spirit wisp with the Summon Spirit spell. Press Left, Right, Up, Down and Square to cast the spell.

  Summon several more powerful spirits with the Tetra Spirit spell. Hold Up on the directional pad for two seconds, then press Up-Right, Right, Right-Down, Down and Square.

  Steal health from enemies near your player with the Soul Steal spell. Line up some nearby foes and press Left, Right, Right-Down, Down, Left-Down, Left, Right and Square. This complex sequence drains fifty of your mana points, so you may want to save it for dire situations.

  Transform into the Bat form to gain access to the Wing Smash spell. While Alucard is flying around as a bat, hold X and enter the following directional sequence: Up, Up-Right, Left, Left-Down, Down, Right-Down and Right. Release the X button as you finish the sequence to charge forward with a special attack.

  Perform a similar attack spell while in the Wolf form with the Wolf Charge spell. Press Down, Down-Right, Right and Square to execute the attack.

  Collect the Sword card to gain access to the Sword familiar, a floating spirit that can aid you in combat against your enemies. The Sword familiar is the only companion character with access to a special move controlled by the player. To trigger the Sword Brothers move, press Down, Down-Right, Right, Up-Right, and then hold Up for two seconds before pressing Down and Square simultaneously.
