How to Hook Up an Original PlayStation to Your TV

The Sony PlayStation One is Sony's original home gaming console. Released in 2000, the PlayStation One came with standard AV hookups for audio and video output to almost any modern television. These hookups are still found on most high definition televisions, making setup as simple as plugging the three color-coded AV cables into the inputs on your TV.

  Plug the included AV cable into the back of the PlayStation console and route the cable to the side of your TV that has AV inputs on it. The AV inputs will be three side-by-side red, white and yellow plugs.

  Plug the red cable into the red plug on your television and plug the yellow and white cables into the corresponding slots.

  Power up your television and change the input to the corresponding setting for the AV cables.

  Power on the game console to test that the hookup was successful.
