How to Start With High Faith on Final Fantasy Tactics

As you fight battles in "Final Fantasy Tactics," your characters' effectiveness depends on the values of their "Brave" and "Faith." In each case, high and low values result in some positive and negative effects; high faith causes characters to deal more magic damage to targets with a higher rate of success while causing them to take more damage from magic attacks. Certain actions can cause a character to temporarily gain faith points during battle, but one-fourth of the boost in value remains after the battle, allowing for higher faith at the start of the next battle.

Instructions

  1. "Preach"

    • 1

Change a character into a Mediator. To make the Mediator job available to a character, the character must reach Level 2 as a Chemist, followed by Level 2 as a Priest and then Level 2 as an Oracle. Increase job levels by making actions during battle as the job class you wish to improve.

    • 2

Learn the job skill "Preach" as a Mediator. You must earn 200 job points as a Mediator to purchase this ability. Earn these job points by making actions during battle as a Mediator, which also leads to a higher job level.

    • 3

Use "Preach" on characters during battle to raise faith. Each time you use Preach, the character receiving the Preach action gains a temporary increase in faith by four points, and a permanent increase in faith by one; a quarter of any temporary faith increase during battle remains after battle, allowing you to retain the permanent faith increase for the start of the next battle.

    "Face Up"

    • 4

Change a male character into a Bard. To make the Bard job available to a character, the character must reach Level 2 as a Chemist, followed by Level 2 as a Priest, Level 2 as a Wizard, Level 2 as an Oracle, Level 2 as a Time Mage and Level 4 as a Mediator and a Summoner.

    • 5

Learn the job skill "Face Up" as a Bard. You must earn 500 job points as a Bard to purchase this job ability. Once you learn the ability, set it to the character's reaction ability slot.

    • 6

Enter battle with "Face Up" set on a character. Enemy attacks on the character cause "Face Up" to take effect, making his faith temporarily increase by three points. Along with the effects of Preach, one-fourth of the faith points gained remain after the battle, allowing you to start the next battle with a permanent increase in faith.
