Press the "X" being able to throw the pitcher's best pitch; Select "O" to throw the pitcher's second-best pitch; Choose "Triangle" for the hurler's next-best pitch and press "Square" for the pitcher's least successful pitch (not all pitchers can throw four pitches). Fox example, a power pitcher may have a four-seam fastball assigned to "X"; a two-seam fastball assigned to "O"; a slider assigned to "Triangle" and a curveball assigned to "Square." Review the meter that will display the pitcher's ability to throw a particular pitch.
Tap the "L" button and the "X" button at the same time to pitch out and tap the "L" and the "O" together to issue an intentional walk, if necessary, depending on game strategy.
Select a pitch. Take the catcher;s suggestion for a pitch, choose to throw another one by pressing the appropriate button.
Review the target that appears on the catcher's glove and decide if that's where you want to throw the pitch; Otherwise, move the target with the joystick to the location that you want the pitch go.
Throw the pitch using the "Classic" delivery method. "MLB 10: The Show" offers two ways to throw a pitch. Press the "X" button and hold it down to set the power level for the pitch -- this is the traditional way to throw a pitch. Release the button when you get to the desired power level -- this throws the pitch. Remember that certain pitches, such as fastballs, should have higher power levels, while off-speed pitches such as change-up should not be thrown as hard.
Pitch using the "Meter-style" delivery. Make the selection to using this style of pitching before starting the game. Click on "Gameplay Settings" with the "X" button. Select "Player Settings" and click "X." Scroll down to "Pitching Interface" and change from "Classic" to "Meter" by moving the joystick or directional controls, then press the "X" button. Press the "Triangle" repeatedly until you return to game action. Hold down the "X" button to bring up the meter. Press the "X" button again to align the power level, then again to set the accuracy level. Pres "X" again to throw the pitch. Pressing "X" while the near the center line of the meter in the red area will make the pitches more powerful and more accurate.
