How to Break a Wall Spell in Final Fantasy VII

"Final Fantasy VII," originally released in 1997, is a 3D role-playing game for the Sony PlayStation, PSP and PC. Its story revolves around a group of radical environmentalists trying to save their world from Shinra, a powerful and evil corporation. Their quests eventually brings them into conflict with a genetically altered superhuman named Sephiroth. Sephiroth, among other enemies, sometimes uses the Wall spell, a protective shield that protects him from both physical and magical attack. To break an enemy's Wall spell, one of your characters must be equipped with the Destruct Materia and use a spell called DeBarrier.

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain the Destruct Materia. Your first opportunity to get this materia happens in the Shinra Mansion in Kalm, after the Gold Saucer episode and Cloud's later imprisonment and escape. Make your way through the mansion until you come to the basement. An important plot-development cut scene between Cloud and Sephiroth will occur, ending with Sephiroth's disappearance. Once he is gone, look for Destruct Materia on the floor at the back of the library. Pick it up.

    • 2

Equip the strongest magic-user in your team with the Destruct Materia. If you are using Aeris, insert the Destruct Materia into an empty slot on her equipped weapon or armor. The spell you need to break the Wall spell, called DeBarrier, will be available to the character equipped with the Destruct Materia. This materia does not need leveling to use DeBarrier.

    • 3

Cast the DeBarrier spell on any enemy that uses Wall. This will break the Wall spell, leaving that enemy exposed to attack. Note that the higher a character's magic attack percentage, the better her chances of success when casting DeBarrier.
