How to Get the Magical Fingertip in Final Fantasy 9

"Final Fantasy IX" is a turn-based role playing video game for the original PlayStation that features a cast of colorful characters, all with their own specific weapons and abilities. To unlock a special weapon for the knight Steiner, you must first find an item called the Magical Fingertip. If you trade an old man for the Magical Fingertip he will give you Excalibur, a powerful sword that allows Steiner to learn a special attack called Climhazzard.

Instructions

  Play through the game's main storyline until you reach Disc 4.

  Travel to Daguerreo using your airship. Look for the old man in an area outside the Library's Inn. Talk to him and he will ask you to find a Magical Fingertip for him. This item is not available until you've spoken to the old man.

  Travel to Treno using your airship and walk to the Auction House inside the city.

  Bid on the Magical Fingertip when it goes up for auction. Expect to pay up to 85,000 Gil for the item.

  Sell the rare items you already won at the auction house if the Magical Fingertip does not appear. This includes items like Doga's Artifact and Une's Mirror. Any item you sell will end up back up for auction after the Magical Fingertip appears so that you can get them back.

  Return to the old man and give him the Magical Fingertip. He will talk to you about his life and then give you the Excalibur in exchange.
