Game Pads Storm Chaser Instructions

The Storm Chaser is a specific type of third-party game pad designed to work with the Sony PlayStation and PlayStation 2 game consoles. Though the unit was originally designed for the first PlayStation, the second version of the system is backwards-compatible with all hardware and software -- including the Storm Chaser. This game pad operates identically to the Dual Shock controller that comes with each version of Sony's console.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your PlayStation or PlayStation 2 -- if whichever console you are using is currently powered on.

    • 2

Insert the cord attached to your Storm Chaser gamepad into the "Controller 1" plug on the front of the console.

    • 3

Turn on your gaming console and insert the game disc that you want to play. The game's main menu will load.

    • 4

Use the "Shape" buttons -- square, circle, triangle and X -- the same way they are used on a regular Dual Shock controller. Exactly what these buttons will do varies depending on the game you are attempting to play. In a fighting game, "X" may throw a punch, for example, while in a role-playing game "X" may be used to activate a door or open a chest.

    • 5

Control the direction of your on-screen character with the left and right analog stick buttons. The left analog stick typically controls the direction your character is moving, while the right analog stick -- if it is used at all in the game -- controls the direction your character is looking.

    • 6

Use the "Program" button on the front of the Storm Chaster to program a specific function onto one of the buttons. For example, pressing "Program" and the "E2" or "E1" button means you can assign custom attributes to these buttons for use during gameplay. The two buttons can be programed to perform up to twelve consecutive button commands.

    • 7

Use the "Mode" button to adjust the layout of the controller buttons to match your needs. For example, pressing "Mode" allows you to change the properties of the analog sticks. Instead of the left one controlling where you move and the right one controlling where you look, swap these two sticks so that they perform the opposite function.
